Full Spectrum Doula

Initial Chemistry Meeting:

In this initial meeting, we like to keep it as an informal ‘getting to know each other’ meeting. We may discuss your birth preferences, cultural significant support, any previous pregnancy experiences, your expectations of your doula, and any other questions you might have. We understand how personal the decision of choosing your doula is, so the most important thing is to make sure we are a good fit for you and to see how the chemistry between us feels. We want to ensure you are supported and feel that you are in the best care.

Prenatal sessions:

During these sessions we explore your expectations for your birth and how you envisage our roles. Whether you want a home birth, a water birth or simply want to explore ideas of other places and spaces of birth; we are here to provide you with all the information you need to make the best choice for you.
We are open to tailoring these sessions to suit your needs. From physiology of birth, comfort measures, partner support, open and releasing, relaxation or just having a listening ear. We are here! Holding space for you is our responsibility. Prenatals can also be provided separately.

Birth attendance:

Once you are in labour, we will join you whenever it is right for you and stay with you until after your baby is born. From the moment we join you in labour, we will be there as a continuous emotional, physical and practical support in whatever capacity you need. After your baby is born, we will stay until you are all settled and happy for us to leave. This is the most delicate phrase of your journey and making sure your needs are protected and you feel safe will make a huge difference.

Postnatal Visits:

After your baby is born we offer a couple of postnatal support sessions during which we might discuss your birth experience and chat about how you and your baby are doing, provide practical and emotional support, whatever you need! Some women like to do this almost immediately, while others prefer to leave it longer. It is entirely up to you!

After you have all of your requested sessions, we will discuss the closing process of your support and continue to connect through our open Circles and village Meet ups if you wish too.

Beyond this, extra postnatal hours can be booked for additional support in the weeks and/or months after your little one is born.

Virtual Doula

Virtual Pregnancy Support:

Our Virtual Pregnancy, Birth and Postnatal Support will provide you with everything you need through our virtual platforms including Zoom calls, and a private WhatsApp group over the time we are supporting you. We are never too far for a chat!

Who is this for?

What can you do for me?

We will help you prepare mentally, emotionally, and practically and realistically in stepping into motherhood for the first time, or all over again.

What happens after I sign up for doula support:

Miscarriage And Stillbirth Support

Our team at Holding Her Space are skilled in helping women navigate pregnancy loss and life after miscarriage. Pregnancy loss can be quite an isolating experience; not knowing who to talk to and where to seek a listening ear can add to the trauma.

Our miscarriage support services provide a unique and essential experience-lead type of support that assists with the following:

The support will also offer traditional techniques and practices to help support the physical, mental, and spiritual bodies during loss through a range of one-to-one and optional group sessions. If you have experienced loss and would like to speak to one of our team, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Trauma Support

Trauma, the new buzz word! But what is it and how can it affect us? Trauma is exposure to an experience or series of experiences that cause physical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual harm. Generational Trauma, is this idea that trauma can be transferred from one generation to another.
The fight or flight response is one of our most primitive survival systems and is designed to allow us to act in the face of life threatening danger. When we are struggling with symptoms of trauma our fight or flight response is being triggered; even though there is no present danger, we are constantly reliving what happened and igniting the feelings all over again. Symptoms of trauma may manifest in the following ways:
By neutralising the emotions, our brains can process our memories so they can be stored as a past event, no longer triggering our fight or flight response.

Our Holistic Coach Imani Chimo creates a safe place for you to understand how your mind and body has stored trauma.
‘we will tap into your nervous system, whilst simultaneously exploring how you respond to real life situations and triggers’.

Sessions will include holding space, reflective sensory writing, deep breathing guided meditations, mental reprogramming, self compassion exercises and energy shifting from a cellular level.

Courses are available.
