Untold Stories With Sonal

Who am I, what's my story, what makes me different?

I am a British Indian, what that means is I was born here in Britain, ironically in Manchester at St Mary’s hospital. But I am Indian at heart and have my religious beliefs and cultural practices.

I wanted to share my story, I have been through a lot and as a mother of two beautiful boys I wanted to show how not being listened can make you feel.

My first born; my eldest son was born in 2018 he was born in the car while my husband was driving. I was sent home from the hospital, I called up at least 3 times that night and told that I did not need to go back to the hospital as ‘I didn’t not sound that far along’ I gave them the script ‘I have been practicing hypnobirthing therefore I will sound calm’ this resulted with me giving birth to my son in a moving vehicle he was born with his cord around his neck. And although he is alive and healthy there is a part of me that fears the worst that he could have died at that point cause I was not listened to.

I was asked if I was related to my husband on more than one occasion. The Ayurvedic diet I wanted to follow was not considered.
What’s my message; listen to people, understand them. Get to know that and their wants and needs help them give birth, don’t do it to them, give birth with them.
My second experience didn’t turn out as planned but I did opt for a home north, my beautiful second son was born at home. This was my healing experience and allowed me to get into the raw emotion of it all and gave me a sense of empowerment.
Through both my experiences i have realised that I am strong and so are most women if we allow them and give them the opportunity, please listen and allow our voices to be heard. We are feeling our children dance to our heart beat and know what they want and need.
Please listen and allow our voices to be heard. We are feeling our children dance to our heart beat and know what they want and need.

Peace, love and light. Namaste 🙏🏽
